A Love Story
Villa Idalina roots back to an Art Nouveau style house built in 1909 with colonial Brazilian influences and bourgeois architectural features. Joaquim dos Anjos Costa, its owner, had envisaged this family home as a way of honouring the love of his life, his wife Idalina. Joaquim took inspiration from his international travels to create this idyllic space, incorporating the most innovative details available at the time. Born in the pretty town of Seixas, he had left the country and emigrated to Brazil where he made his fortune from the building trade. He then decided to return to his hometown in Portugal in order to design what would be his most intimate project commissioned to the renowned Portuguese architect Ventura Terra.
In 1968, Villa Idalina was purchased by its current owners as a summer holiday retreat. More recently, in 2013 the owner’s family descendants decided to open the house to the public so that clients and/or guests could enjoy this magnificent property in the beautiful surroundings of the Portuguese green coast.
